Something about Bloggers --------------------------------------------
by Dr.Lubna Zubair
When I heard the term
blogs first time, it was 2002, I searched for this and found nothing
interesting, probably b/c it was not too common in cyberspace that days, then
of course 'lack of interest', so I
closed the file. Recently I though again (pushing by someone) that I should know what
they are and why people are so crazy making this a hottest topic, and really
this is amazing to know that it is very very HOT and favorite ' ITEM '. All
communities are working at this continuously and in a dutiful manner, and it count to
letting down
books sell because all they people get from blogs they want, they ask others
and return others required stuff in same way.
They bloggers says go to library and
buy nothing, just read all there but read their blogs regularly ok
understand?................................. ( just a joke partly)
Serious is that, Dave Winer's Scripting
News was the first successful weblog on the Internet, fuelled by his popular
newsletter Dave Net, published regularly since 1994. some says that the term First used on New
Year's Day, 2002 by William Quick. GOD knows better who is the pioneer in this
tactful field. this subject is seems to be superstitious, endless and
imprecise.
MY 1ST PERSPECTIVE
TO WEBLOGS: If we consider it literally not according to
terminology, A blog is a piece of wood which may be finished or unfinished and
again when I think about LOG, in English this is again same thing. That's why I
cannot estimate how long a weblog could be.
2ND:
According to dictionary (take it easy!)
A- Any systematic record of deeds,
experiences, etc (My definition comes true by this)
B- LOG means logarithm (N), One of a
series of arithmetic exponents tabulated to simplify computation by making it
possible to use addition and subtraction instead of multiplication and
division. (means, here is deletion and addition of updated material only)
Lets come to where we started , I surfed approx 80 useful sites deeply and seriously, then I found definitions which were
different to each other in anyway, confusing me more taking this topic, and I
was getting misconception about it that this is above to my level. As the
saying is, Knowledge is the key of success, I read them thoroughly and
seriously then reached to my satisfying point. Now in my view web logs are sharing data with others in any forms,
documents, pictures, voice, movies, software, scripts etc...
The definitions are collected from some of
the selected sites I surfed, with their destinations.
-
Web logs are often-updated sites that point to articles elsewhere on the
web, often with comments, and to on-site articles. A weblog is kind of a
continual tour, with a human guide who you get to know. (Dave Winer, 1999)

-
A weblog is similar to a diary or journal that is organized, managed and
made available through a web site. Using a weblog, a person can post

A weblog is usually defined as a personal or noncommercial
web site that uses a dated log format (usually with the most recent addition

commentary about those sites. A weblog is updated frequently and sometimes
groups links by specific subjects, such as politics, news, pop culture, or
computer issues. (YAHOO)

Weblogs are easily updated web sites organized by time. Weblogs
do not require the user to first learn a Web Authoring program, such as
Dream weaver or FrontPage. Nor do they require a knowledge of HTML, Web
servers, or other Web Technologies. (kairos news)

A weblog is a live online journal that can be easily and instantly updated. (MY

I don't think the world needs any more

around defining and redefining it, Dave Winer's weblog. (SLASH CODE)

web site, usually maintained by one person that is updated on a regular
basis and has a high concentration of repeat visitors. Weblogs often are
highly focused around a singular subject, an underlying theme or unifying
concept. (CAM WORLD)

And in
last my definition: web logs means sharing data with others in any forms,
documents, pictures, voice, movies, soft wares, scripts etc...
WHAT THEY BLOGGERS DO:
Bloggers are the people who creates weblogs.
Blogosphere, Blogland, Blogistan, or Blogspace is the place where people place
their blogs. Blogrolling is the blogger's favorite links.
What they bloggers do? They write down theirs and
others daily habits in an interesting manner, which could be able to receive
attention of web audience.
Not all bloggers are selling their thought,
lots of them are sharing ideas for free.
Not a such high research is needed
to becoming a blogger, Its a simple task as you write a budget, time table or
essay on anything, Or as you write a letter to your friend telling your daily
activities.
Among them bloggers, they find popularity who write on events and
in large quantity. Some get success by making themselves popular in an odd way
that they copy others blogs and publish with their names shamelessly.
Another
way is blogging about carriers and jobs because everybody wants to do their
dream job and of course money making ideas or how to make money online, this
is another thing that these ideas works very little or not but people smells
and attract by this like Bees.
Bloggers know what the hottest topics are in
cyberspace, then they write on this their selves or make others to write on.
Not the blogging is a headache of journalist now, but other peoples have started to
do.
A successful blogging is the handling of visitors psychologically, placing
their needs and problems in front. That's why I say its may be a philosophical
as well as political way to introduce 1st, then selling something in the form
of relayed sites or hard copy of book or zine.
One more thing they do, they make suitable matching blog names for their sites
in leisure :) What to do if they are making UNITED STATE OF BLOGISTAN.
(Thats a joke) But the way of throwing this big ball has much variations and
techniques, which are endless and imprecise.
'A
Short story'
|
'DEREK M. POVAZEK' fell in love with the web a long
time ago, made piles of homepages. Here is his story of weblog, he says
"By nature, I'm suspicious of hype. I think anyone with a journalism
background is like that. I always wanted to see people make things.
Big, beautiful, daring things. Not yet another pointer
to yet another Salon article And, given the tidal wave of hype weblogs
received in late 1999, it was hard not to rebel. I started saying that
I
hated weblogs, just to see what would happen, It was partly
true. I did hate the hype that weblogs got. Hype is
ugly, and rarely good for the thing it's about. I also hated the
exclusionary nature of the community that cropped up around weblogs. As soon as I began posting
every day, So I did something dreadful. Something despicable. Something
so horrible and evil I couldn't stand the sight of myself in the mirror
in the morning. I started weblogging. I started getting email. The voices were friendly, and
encouraging. My hits rose steadily, and people started to link back,
I
was hooked. "Weblogging, NOW I love weblogs
because they're yet another way for people to express themselves online.
Sure, they're full of links. They're also full of lives. |
From the Derek's story we can
estimate the success of webs in the presence of web logs and how these are
important for now. Blogs are useful tools and bloggers are blogging nicely
(keep it up!).
