Timesheet Software
--------------------------------
Many, many moons ago (sometime
in the Stone Age, actually) employees punched a clock. They were given time
cards and inserted them into a machine which “punched” in the time they
began, when they took breaks and when they went home. Back then, it was an
affective way of monitoring the time an employee put in. But with a
practically paperless society, this method seems archaic and time-consuming.
Just try to picture all the time cards handed in at the end of pay period
for some of the larger corporations!
Timesheet software is a popular solution to such a mess. It allows
employees to enter their hours into a larger system and enables employers to
track the hours each has worked in a pay period or on a particular project.
It can also provide the option of recording the steps taken during these
work hours.
The major benefit of time sheet software is, of course, the amount of
paperwork it avoids. It gives instant access to timesheet information,
instead of having to sift through piles of paper. A grand total of hours
contributed could be one component in a project’s final report. Software
simplifies maintaining and obtaining this information. However, it can also
be useful in tax purposes. Basically, an affective timesheet software will
make the employer’s and employees’ work a whole lot easier.
